Christmas meat hamper buying guide: choosing your family’s feast

Choose a Christmas hamper by its contents, your guest numbers and the meals you want to make across the festive period.

A Christmas meat hamper is most useful when its contents match more than one meal. Before choosing, count the people coming for Christmas dinner and the breakfasts, Boxing Day lunches or family suppers you intend to cover.

Compare the contents, not only the headline

Our Classic, Deluxe and Luxury hampers contain different quantities and selections. Read each current product page in full. A larger hamper is not simply the smaller one with a different name; check the turkey, beef, pork, gammon, sausages, bacon and any extra cuts included.

Weights describe raw products. They do not translate directly into identical cooked portions, and bones, trimming and cooking losses vary. Plan each joint as part of a menu with vegetables and accompaniments.

Make a meal plan

Turkey may be your Christmas centrepiece, gammon your Boxing Day lunch and bacon and sausages a festive breakfast. Decide which joints you will cook straight away and which you will freeze while still within their use-by dates. Check storage instructions on every pack.

Choose your delivery date

For a Christmas pre-order, select the preferred delivery date shown on the hamper page and read the current ordering deadlines. Keep the hamper order separate from additional items needed sooner; those items follow our normal dispatch arrangements and delivery charges.

Check space before checking out

Leave room in the fridge or freezer for the actual hamper contents. The best-value selection is one you can store and enjoy without waste. If you are unsure which size suits your household, contact us with your guest numbers and planned meals, and we can help you compare the options.
